Judging Process
Gallery visitors may critique images, on a scale of one to five, according to ten elements:
- Composition
- Contrast
- Color
- Lighting
- Creativity
- Subject
- Impact
- Meaning
- Presentation
- Focus
"One" is worst, "five" is best and "three" is the default. The 'points' are added then placed into a ratio with the number of 'hits'. Images that score closest to 30 are considered best suited for postcards. The images with totals near either 10 or 50 represent the worst and best images respectively.
If an image does not impress you, you would keep it at default of 3. That would return a default vote of 30. However, if you dislike it immensely, you might reduce its total to ten by clicking on one. Or, if you liked the image, by clicking on five, you could return a total of fifty.
The images receiving the highest weighted average score will be placed in the Top Images section for that Gallery. The images will continue to stay in this section until other images garner higher scores, or until they are moved to the Hall of Fame Gallery.
Hall of Fame Gallery The Hall of Fame Gallery features the images with the highest scores from all the galleries, while receiving a minimum number of votes (currently need a minimum of 25 votes to enter the Hall of Fame). This gallery will contain the top images, as well as an archive of previous entries that reached the Top Six.
